Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney is a partisan position. So why run as a non-partisan? I’m hearing that question already, so here is my take on it.
It is obvious that under incumbent Mark Lindquist, the prosecutor’s office is more political, more image-focused, and more about him. “Loyalty” and political support are expected, with demotions or other punishments for those who don’t toe the line. That’s wrong, and it’s not how I will act as Prosecuting Attorney.
Running as a non-partisan is my way of saying that it’s time to turn the page on this politics- and image-first approach, and instead put professionalism and public service first. That’s what’s best for the office and deputy prosecutors, for voters, and for our criminal justice system.
I’m running a non-partisan campaign to say: Let’s get politics out of the prosecutor’s office.
